Personal Experience
As our senior barrister, Julia brings with her a wealth of experience obtained from over a decade of practicing at the independent bar. Julia worked at one of the country’s top barristers chambers, before leaving in 2010 to establish JFH Law.
Julia is a highly skilled and persuasive advocate, and is well respected amongst her professional peers for being a powerful presence within the court room. Known for her meticulous case preparation, the outstanding results Julia achieves are a testament to her dedication to each and every case she is instructed in. Cases
R v M and others, Blackfriars Crown Court
Counsel for the first defendant in a multi handed banking fraud. The case involved cross-jurisdictional issues and complex financial evidence.
R v R & R, Central Criminal Court
Conspiracy to murder allegation. Successfully argued that there was insufficient evidence against the client resulting in the case being dismissed by the Recorder of London at the Old Bailey.
R v B and others, Central Criminal Court
Leading junior in a multi handed murder trial at the Old Bailey. Case involved extensive telephone evidence, requiring detailed analysis. The case also required careful consideration of DNA and forensic evidence.
R v J and others, St Albans Crown Court
Multi handed case involving cross-jurisdictional importation of class A drugs. Successfully argued at the close of the prosecution that there was insufficient evidence to proceed resulting in a Not Guilty verdict.
R v E, Wood Green Crown Court
Representing defendant charged with rape of a prostitute. Case was complicated by the fact that the client had two previous convictions for rape, resulting in complex arguments as to whether the jury should be told about those convictions.
R v S, Wood Green Crown Court
Multi handed cash in transit robberies. Case involved careful analysis of cell site and forensic evidence.
R v W, Kingston Crown Court
Represented one of the student protestors in the “Alfie Meadow student riot” case. Client found Not Guilty by the jury of a violent disorder in Parliament Square, following the Government’s decision to increase tuition fees
R v M, Wood Green Crown Court
Conspiracy to steal. Case involved the “London Riots” and concerned over 30 defendants, spanning over 3 Crown Court Trials.
R v S, Dorchester Crown Court
Case involving a client who had been convicted of attempted murder in 1995. Due to his mental health issues he was not fit to be tried, and remained in a secure hospital until this decade when the CPS attempted to re-open the criminal proceedings. Successfully halted the proceedings against him following the initiation of Judicial Review proceedings. This was a complex case involving Human Rights arguments.
